There are some advantages over traditional, round throttle body parts:
- The oval channel shape of the cylinder head is maintained throughout, right up to the funnels. This means the flow is not negatively affected.
- very short distance to the cylinder head, which leaves plenty of space for an airbox.
- The channel is created by the two opposing rollers fully utilized at 100% throttle position. No disruptive wave that may lead to turbulence.
- With round throttle valves, the flow breaks off behind the flap at partial load and causes turbulence. The principle of the double roller pusher is different. The back of the rollers is round, which has a positive effect on flow. This results in very good partial load behavior. The Swindon and Spiess companies have used this system in motorsport throughout the entire era of the C20XE engine. Other systems such as round throttle valves or flat slide valves had proven to be disadvantageous and the maximum performance of the engine could not be achieved.
