The shift travel shortening is for VW cable-operated manual transmissions (02A). The standard shift gate is dismantled and replaced with the new shift gate. The shortened shift lever and a different deflection result in a 50% reduction in shift travel. The new switching unit has a thread for the gear knob of M12 x 1.5.
