IRMLER RACING© WHEELS
The production process – step by step to your special wheel
Quality and precision are our top priorities in wheel manufacturing. We start the manufacturing process with your template – be it a hand-drawn sketch, technical drawing, data model or sample. Our experienced team, which has been active in slalom, rally/rallycross and racing since 1988, uses these documents to manufacture your individual wheels with the utmost precision.
Thanks to our in-house design and development, we use state-of-the-art design software such as SolidWorks. This enables us to work flexibly and directly with you. With a personal contact for your wishes and specifications, you benefit from individual support and innovative solutions based on our ingenuity and many years of experience. We take your wishes and preferences into account to ensure that your requirements are met in full. All wheels are individually designed on the PC before production in the CAD system. This allows us to take changes into account during the planning phase and ensure that no adjustments are necessary after mechanical production.
Modern and stable CNC turning and milling machining centers guarantee precise machining and ensure a high standard of quality. Our experienced technicians, who prepare the programming, as well as our machinists with all their know-how, ensure the right result. The classic materials used are cast or forged blanks made of aluminum and magnesium.
Every wheel undergoes strict material tests and quality controls, which have been firmly established since the introduction of our quality management system in 2011. In 2018, we successfully converted to ISO 9001:2015, certified by ZDH-Zert. Important tests such as tensile tests and bending circulation tests, as well as the dynamic concentricity calculation, which our engineers carry out with the “Wheelstrength” software developed by the Fraunhofer LBF Institute, are part of the development process. We simulate up to 2 million load cycles with forces of up to 20 kN in tests on our bending circulation testing machine. As a manufacturer of wheels with KBA initial assessment, we also have expert opinions and ABEs issued so that your wheels can also be used for road vehicles.
Our three-piece wheels may look hot, but they’re actually really cool! Through the openings in the stars, the cooling air supplied from the inside for the wheel bearings and brakes can easily flow back to the outside. This significantly reduces the temperature in the braking area and inside the rim.
At the end of the manufacturing process, you hold your wheel in your hands – light, efficient and ready to withstand the demanding conditions of motorsport. We deliver your wheel assembled or in parts, depending on how you need it. Assembled, it is ready for use. For overhauls, we offer you special IRMLER RACING© screw material, original IRMLER RACING© sealing rings, which are precisely matched to our rims and guarantee you safety. Each rim, each star and each dish is provided with a unique serial number, which is engraved by laser. This means that your rim can be traced at any time and important data can be retrieved even years later.
Our rim sizes
Our product range includes a wide selection of rims for classic and modern motorsport. We can manufacture rims from as little as 10 inches, for example for the Mini!
Rims from 13 inches are ideal for smaller classic cars such as the Audi 50, VW Polo, NSU Prinz, Renault R5, Opel Corsa, Kadett and many more. For demanding racing cars, we manufacture customizable 15-inch rims that are perfectly tailored to models such as the Kadett C.
Our range of three-piece 16- and 17-inch rims are popular for classic DPM / DTM and Group A touring cars from the 80s and 90s, as well as for vehicles from the former Groups 2 / and 5. These rims are available in cast aluminum or magnesium.
For classic youngtimer motorsport, we offer one-piece 17-inch forged wheels, available in sizes 8.0 – 11 x 17″. These wheels are lightweight, robust and precisely manufactured, ideal for demanding racing use.
In addition, we offer classic DTM wheels, super touring car rims in 18 and 19 inch, both as one-piece forged rims made of aluminum or magnesium, as well as three-piece rims. These rims are specially designed for cars from the 1980s to 2000s, including the DTM and ITC classics.
Finally, we also offer custom-made wheels up to 21-inch in various designs, which can be manufactured to fit your vehicle exactly!
We specialize in individual requests and are happy to advise you on rim sizes and designs for classic and modern vehicles to make your ideas a reality.
